The Jewish cemetery outside the dutch town of Ootmarsum dates back to 1768, although the current tombstones date back to the late 19th and early 20th century. Like all Jewish cemeteries, it is located well outside the town centre, as corpses were considered (with reason) unclean. This in contrast with Christian burials, which, until the time of Napoleon, took place in and around the church, right in the centre of town.

I adore how bright the green moss is on the graves, mist and cemeteries go together like bread and butter! Great shot.

The atmosphere really matchs the mood. Also I'm impressed by the luminosity of the 1st and 3d tombstones which are really bright compared to the rest of the picture, giving it an almost surreal feeling.
