Belgium is one of the most densly populated countries in Europe. In conversation, the flemish will have you believe that the whole of flanders has become urbanized. While it is indeed nearly impossible to look around in the countryside without seeing a village or town, there is still plenty of breathtaking emptyness on the hills of flanders.

here it depends. in the valleys and along the steenwegen it is of course nothing but the same type of houses over and over again, but one side road up into the hills and all is emptyness.
