A view of the interior of the west tower of the st Denis church in the Belgian city of Liege.

The church was built as a collegiate church in the late 10th century. The tower and nave still date from that period and show a design typical for churches of that time, built in the region around the Meuse river. Especially the fortress-like west tower with two adjoining stair turrests is a typical feature.

In the 18th century, the interior of the church was enriched in a decorative baroque/roccoco style. In this small part of the church, the decorations were removed or were perhaps never applied, showing us a glimpse of the ancient stones of the building.
